Materials: (Mostly things cheap or commonly in houses so you wont spend alot of money.)
- 6 Arizona ice tea cans (the large ones)
- Cardboard (or foamboard might look better but I used cardboard and it looks fine)
- Duct tape
- Grey paint
- two water bottles & 4 water bottle caps
- mini hotel shampoo’s (I will explain any substitutions later)
- Sliver metallic spray paint. (Important,)
- X-acto knife & Box cutters (Anything like that will work.)
Okay if your not sure where to get the silver metallic spray paint. (I found it in my house) it says it’s from dollar general for 3-4 $.
Time needed: This took me long cause I messed up a few times. but I’m guessing that this will take you at the most 2-3 hours? I’m not sure because I would do one thing then put it away and do the rest like 3 days later.
Measurements: The boxes were tricky because I had to resize them like alot, but these are the final measurements of each side.
Okay now let me point out that I’m really short and small and these are still a little bigger. If you like you could make it smaller, but these measurements are what I’m comfortable with because I like how they look. But if your short and want to make it a little smaller or thinner you can.
As for how I stick them together I used tape, because I didn’t have a glue gun at the time. So if you do use tape make sure there are no bumps and that it is smooth (because once you paint over it, it will be obvious)
Painting: Paint the cardboard a grey. (try not to make it too light) After painting spray it with the silver spray paint. This will make it look much better. Set this aside for now.
***Note: I used wall paint because it’s thick and I had it laying around but you can use any paint. Depending on the paint you might need a second coating.***
The gas tanks.
These were tricky as well. You take the 6 empty Arizona cans. (I like them cause they are cheap and large)
I simply cut the ends off with my X-acto knife but you can use whatever can cut nicely.
Tips: Be careful and cut a little line to alow them to fit together. (this won’t be seen because it will be the side facing the box.
Here is a picture cause I’m not good at explaining things.
Now for the tops of the gas tanks
Using the water bottle caps, bottles, and mini shampoo bottles.
Okay this part I would like to say you can use anything. I just looked around the house for some cylinder type object that came in pairs. And found mini hotel shampoo bottles. but I’m staying anything will work you are going to be painting over it anyways.
Okay after that paint it grey as well. Spray generously with silver spray paint.
Now you should have your box and gas tank down.
The last thing is the things attaching them.
For this I decided to use duct tap because it was already grey. Your going to take a long long long strip of duct tape and as best as you can fold it over.( so that both sides arent sticky). make sure you fold the right way cause I dont know if I’m explaining right.
use that and cut out a long rectangle in the middle (might have to put it around the gear to see where the rectangle holes should show. Here are pictures if it still is a little confusing.
I have also sprayed a bit of the silver spray paint on them.
Now this is what you should have.
And then you just put it all together. (Tip for the end strap. Put it over where you see the faint lines where you attached the Arizona cans together. You can’t put the straps over both of the lines because it would look to close together.)
I haven’t made the blades yet,or the attachments but it is coming up soon. I’ll post another tutorial for that when I finish it. As well as making the harness. Reblog or tell me if this helped you. :)
